3 5 7

Three, Five, Seven
Three
Knocks at the door
Steps on the Floor
Degrees and no more
Five
Greeted upon phi
Senses to live by
Stairs to climb high
Wardens to pass by
Wages we can’t buy
Seven
Circles and then one
Arts now to learn from
Stairs that we can’t run
Lesson from east comes
The Master is now done
Villains we now shun
The Word spoken to none

Memorial day

It's memorial day weekend. Don't forget why many of us have a day off, or why the Flag is flown at half 'till noon and then raised to full. I offer a gentle reminder:
Sunrise Reveille Time for colors.
The sky is red as stained with blood
The trumpet sounds all eyes lift up
Salute is due the flag is raised
Quick and crisp it climbs the mast
It’s colors bright and proud
Then it dips so slowly down
Half way down it halts
For those who died in battle
For those who gave their all
That we might live in peace
They died that we might live
Hours pass till noontime bells
The sky is blue and bright as honor
The Guard does form and march
To raise the flag to height
They raise the flag to honor those
Who fought for freedoms right
The ones who made it back again
With memories of the fight
Some walk some limp some roll
They have come home from war
They morn their fallen family
They gave that we might live
The day draws on and 8 bells sound
The shadows have grown long
The Anthem sounds it is retreat
The Guard is there again
With reverent hands and hearts
They lower down the flag
They fold it very carefully
They understand the cost
Sunset Taps Time to turn in
The final note from the brass
Reminding us once more
Sacrifice was made for us
That we must remember

thankfull

It's time for bed.
Remember now to be thankful.
Thankful that you woke up this morning and the sun rose.
Thankful that you had food on your plate at least once today
Thankful for a roof over your head
Thankful for clean water to drink
Thankful that you did not need to know the location of a bomb shelter
Thankful that no one is allowed to tell you who you should be thankful to.
I am thankful, and full of thanks.
good night

hammer

Teacher: This is a Hammer.
Student: You have nothing in your hand.
Teacher: What have you learned?

sheep dog

Had to explain the principal of a "Sheep Dog" today. It's simple.
There are Sheep and there are Wolves.
Wolves eat Sheep.
Sheep let it happen.
Then there are Sheep Dogs.
Sheep Dogs can defend themselves and others from the Wolves.
So when some one asks you if you want to be a Sheep or a Wolf..
Shoot them the finger and tell them "I'm Sheep Dog B****"
(add cuss words as needed)

thoughts

As a child I learned things I simply did not know
As an adolescent I made mistakes
As a teen in pushed and tried and tested things
As a young adult I questioned what I had been taught
These days I form my own thoughts about what happens in the world.

Resolution

I typically don't do new year resolutions.
I have one resolution each day when I wake up.
I want to be a better person than I was yesterday.
